The 2009 Mobile Money Summit will focus on what is new in the mobile money ecosystem and how the community has evolved in the past year. This program will arm attendees with successful strategies, new ideas, and sufficient data to develop business cases. The inaugural Mobile Money Summit in Cairo last year demonstrated how mobile money is becoming a mainstream business. Mobile Money Summit 2009 will highlight the realities behind the business models and existing deployments and look at what needs adjusting as the industry moves forward.
The major themes of the event will include:
Executive Regulatory Training
This one-day, interactive workshop will train attendees how to assess the available mobile money business models, understand the regulatory environment and choose the best model for a given country. For more information, please click here. (There is an additional registration fee for this event.)
Mobile Money for the Unbanked (MMU) Working Group
Open to mobile operators, the MMU Working Group has been created to stimulate knowledge sharing around mobile money services and discuss commercial experiences, workshop challenges identified by the industry and agree solutions. For more information, or to register, contact mmu@gsm.org.
Mobile Money Summit
The first day of the Mobile Money Summit will focus on go-to-market strategies & unbanked markets.
We’ll provide an update on commercial mobile financial services deployments globally and a look into the progress made on commitments at the 2008 Mobile Money Summit.
Mobile Money Summit
In light of interest in multiple topics, the second morning of the summit will give participants the choice between sessions in the Regulatory Track and the Mobile Money Transfer Track.
Our Regulatory Track sessions will look at how the regulatory challenges identified last year are being met, the new challenges we face and how the industry is addressing them. The Mobile Money Transfer Track will discuss progressing the mass deployment of international remittances through mobile.
In the afternoon sessions all participants will reconvene to look into the next 100 million mobile money customers – what are the emerging technologies and latest innovations and what are the probable business models that will take these forward?
